The Wheat Stitch™ Pufferfish is a chubby, cheerful little amigurumi full of charm and texture. It’s worked in the round in Wheat Stitch™, which adds just the right detail to its bouncy, puffy shape.

It’s part of the Hooked on the Sea collection of six ocean animal amigurumi, all made with Wheat Stitch. With playful fins, a sweet little mouth and a wide-eyed expression, it is sure to make someone smile.

✨ What makes it work

• Little parts first. Crochet the side fins, tail and mouth and set them aside.
• Top down body. Worked in the round for that puffy shape.
• Bring it to life. Attach the fins, eyes and mouth, then stuff and close the bottom.
• You’re not on your own. Video tutorial and written pattern included.

• Yarn: Herrschners My Ami (55% acrylic/45% cotton, 120 yds/50 g)
• Yardage: Beeswax (yellow) 55 yds, White 15 yds.
• Love a swap? Brava Worsted, WeCrochet · Herrschners Worsted 8 · Dishie, WeCrochet. For a fuzzy one of a kind sea friend, try Feels Like Bliss, Lion Brand. Any yarn from fingering to bulky works; just adjust your hook.
• Hook: G (4.0mm), or size to meet gauge
• Tools: Removable Stitch Markers · Yarn Needle · Scissors
• To finish like the sample: Fiberfill · Safety Eyes · Jute Twine for tags
