In the state of Maine, “wicked” is a serious compliment, and these mittens definitely deliver. The design includes a cozy lined cuff, giving them a snug, warm fit, without the bulk of a fully lined mitten. The thumb includes a gusset. There is a table from which you can choose the size mittens you need, along with your preferred yarn weight—including Sport, DK, Worsted and Aran options.

SIZES: 7 sizes—from child to adult large.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Circumference: 6 to 9.75 inches in circumference
Length: adjustable

GAUGE: 18, 20, 22, or 24 stitches = 4”/10cm on gauge size needles (over blocked colorwork pattern).

NEEDLES:
Size to obtain desired gauge.
Choose needle types base on your preferred method of working small circumferences in the round. Options include magic-loop on a 32-inch circular needle, DPNs, or 2 24-inch circular needles.

YARN: Sport, DK, Worsted or Aran weight yarn for the mitten hand. Choose a cuff lining yarn that is a bit lighter than the main yarn.
A pair of mittens requires approximately 100-150 yards of each of the two pattern colors and 35-55 yards of a soft blend (angora, mohair, alpaca) for the cuff lining in a coordinating color.

NOTIONS: 2 stitch markers, a length of smooth yarn for a holder, tapestry needle, basting pins

SKILLS USED: working in the round, decreases (k2tog, ssk), increases (M1) using a chart, 2-color colorwork, picking up stitches
