Wind spinner Easter Chick
This is a written pattern for a windspinner in the shape of a chick. Several pictures are included, to explain some parts of the pattern and/or to show how it should look like.
The level is advanced intermediate, you should have experience with making amigurumis.
Materials you need:
-Yarn, about 60 meters/66 yards in total
-Stuffing for the head, just a little bit
-A thread for hanging the windspinner. You can use nylon thread, but you can also use a single string of the yarn you used for the windspinner itself.
-optional: beads for the eyes and/or for decoration
Stitches and (US-)terms used:
- mc = magic circle
- ch = chainstitch
- slst = slipstitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- trc = treble crochet
- incr = increase
- decr = decrease
- flo = frontloop only
- blo = backloop only
- picot = ch 2, attach to the last stitch with slst 1 (in flo)
For this windspinner I used acrylic yarn (Stylecraft Special dk or Scheepjes colourcrafter) which is 295 m/322 yards per 100 gram.
I used hooksize 3.5 for the main part, hooksize 3.0 for the head and the legs and 2.0 for the beak.
In case you prefer to use other yarn, I would suggest only using a smaller hook (and thinner yarn) for the beak. So use one hooksize for all of the other parts in that case.
For example sockwool: take a size 2 or 2.25 hook, plus a thinner thread and a size 1.0 hook for the beak.
Colors used: yellow and orange and a bit of black for the eyes.
