Wind spinner Hatching Chick
This is a written pattern for a wind spinner in the shape of a chick. It’s a nice item for Easter!
The pattern is mainly written, there are several pictures added though, to show how it should look like and to explain some details.
The level is advanced intermediate. You should have some experience with amigurumis too.
Stitches and (US-)terms used in this pattern:
- mc = magic circle
- ch = chainstitch
- slst = slipstitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- trc = treble crochet
- incr = increase
- decr = decrease
- flo = frontloop only
- blo = backloop only
- picot = ch 1 or 2, attach to the last stitch with a slst (in flo)
For this windspinner I used acrylic yarn (Stylecraft Special dk or Scheepjes colourcrafter) which is 295 m/322 yards per 100 gram, and hooksize 3.0.
For the body and the wings I used hooksize 3.5 and for the beak 2.0.
I needed about 60 meters/66 yards of yarn, in yellow and white,
and a bit of orange and black (or small black beads) for the eyes.
My spinner was about 10 cm/3.9 inches high and 7 cm/2.8 inches wide.
Other materials you need:
-Stuffing for the head and optional a little bit for the eggshell-hat.
-A thread for hanging the windspinner. You can use nylon thread, but you can also use a string of the yarn you used for making the windspinner.
