Sheep Headband
A stranded colorwork headband featuring a flock of sheep, knitted in the round with ribbed edges. Simple, graphic, and endlessly wearable in any two colours you like.

Your purchase includes two PDFs: the original Aran weight pattern (one size) and a DK weight version in three sizes (Child, Adult S/M, Adult L). Knit whichever suits your yarn, or both.

Size: One size: 20 inches / 51 cm circumference, 6 inches / 15 cm high. To fit head circumference 21-22 inches / 53-56 cm
Needles: 5mm circular needles, 16 inch / 40 cm
Tension: 18 sts x 21 rounds = 4 x 4 inches / 10 x 10 cm in stranded stockinette on 5mm needles, after blocking
Yarn: Sample knitted in Ístex Léttlopi. Any Aran weight yarn with good stitch definition works beautifully
DK version
Sizes: Child (Adult S/M, Adult L): 17.25 (19, 20.75) inches / 44 (48, 52.5) cm circumference, 5 (5.5, 5.5) inches / 12.5 (14, 14) cm high. To fit head circumference 19.5-20.5 (21-22, 23-24) inches / 49.5-52 (53-56, 58.5-61) cm
Needles: 4mm circular needles, 16 inch / 40 cm
Tension: 23 sts x 24 rounds = 4 x 4 inches / 10 x 10 cm in stranded stockinette on 4mm needles, after blocking
Yarn: Sample knitted in DROPS Karisma. Any DK weight yarn with good stitch definition works beautifully
Notes
For yarn substitutions, look for a wool or wool-blend with good stitch definition at the weight you’re knitting. It gives the cleanest results in the colorwork section.
