This collection began in a very different way from most of my work.

I didn’t start by asking myself what would be commercial or what I thought people might want to knit. Instead, I gave myself permission to create from a much more personal and romantic place, to follow the colours, shapes, textures, techniques, and little details that simply make me happy.

I opened my little treasure box and allowed myself to play.

There are crystals, embroidery, Swiss darning, crochet details, soft and neutral colours, delicate fabrics, unusual constructions, and many of the things I have loved for years.

And I have had so much fun making it.

La Vida es Sueño is a collection of truly individual pieces. Each design has its own character, its own construction, and its own little story. Some feel nostalgic and romantic, while others explore techniques and constructions that are more unexpected and, in a few cases, quite innovative.

Two of the designs include beads or crystals, but these embellishments are completely optional. I wanted the garments themselves to be beautiful enough to stand on their own, so you can make them simply or add all the little treasures if that is what makes you happy.

That freedom is very much at the heart of this collection.
