NOTE: I AM CURRENTLY ON BUNNY BLANKET #5 and making more revisions to the instructions below. I also am doing the bobble differently now.

Here are blankets 6,7,& 8:

The reason I prefer the broken rib stitch is that when I do the reverse stockinette like the original pattern, my stitches are so uneven. Maybe someday I will be a better knitter! But the broken rib hides any uneven stitches and looks so nice from both sides. **I like the reverse side of this stitch so much, next time I will try making that the right side of the blanket.**

This is my third Heirloom Bunny Blanket. I used broken rib stitch for the main body, six repeats of bunnies (12 stitches) stitches between cables. Added a crochet edge in grass green under the bunnies. I love how soft this is and I love this stitch - it looks good from both sides. No curling, no extra border on sides or bottom. I like the small size baby blankets - more portable for car seats and stroller, and less floor dragging for toddlers. This blanket pattern has no holes for little fingers (other than the small holes at side of cables) and I think the little bunny tails that are knit bobbles are something babies like playing with.
I’m not a designer, so please excuse my directions. I cast on 142 using long tail cast on. With yarn forward, slip first stitch of every row purl wise, move yarn to back and knit. Knit last stitch of every row. This gives a nice selvedge. Cast on row is counted as row one. All odd number rows are right side, even number are wrong side. Row 2 (WS)is kp all the way across. Continue to row 15 (even number)rows kp, right side (odd number rows)knit (alternating). This is broken rib stitch. At row 15, do row 21 of pattern. S1, k10, PM, P2 K8,p2 pm knit into stitch below to increase 1, k10 (so you now have 11 St in space between cables.. The increase is needed to keep the kp sequence correct. Continue placing markers and adding increase after each cable section in this row for however many bunnies you want (I did 6 bunnies, 7 broken rib sections between bunny/cables. The last broken rib section has 10 stitches instead of 11 so the last stitch is a knit. The 11 stitches are knit in the garter rib pattern, the 12 stitches in the bunny/cable pattern- on the right side of the work, purl two on each side of the 8stitch bunny pattern, as you would for a normal cable pattern (12 stitches total). On the wrong side, slip stitch,kp for 10 stitches, k2 p8 k2 pm, kp11 etc Last photo is the marker set up when knitting the bunnies to give you an idea of what I mean. (It’s bunny blanket 4, and bottom rib is longer, but the rest is the same)You can do more bunnies than the 6 across I did- I like a smaller blanket. This was 30x 30 when finished on size 8 needle, but very stretchy because of ribbing. At the top of the bunny ears, knit the first ear k2togtbl, purl 4 increase one purl stitch, ktogtbl 2nd bunny ear. This increase and decrease gets you the right count to continue the broken rib pattern .You can remove the markers now. Then do broken rib for as long as you want, (mine is about 16 inches - I measure when I finish one skein of Simply soft, and then do the same thing for the second half, so I use exactly 2 skeins. then go back to markers and pattern to start the bunny ears on the other end. I want to try RC and LC for the tips of the bunny ears next time.Be sure to pay attention to the original pattern correction for row 129. Then broken rib 15rows and bind off. I did a single crochet on each end in some green yarn I had left over, but it looks just as nice without it. I hope I have not made any mistakes writing it out for you!
LAst photo is of the back side of the blanket.
MODIFIED BOBBLE: follow original instruction, k yo k yo k. Turn work p5, turn work k5, turn work p2tog, p1, p2 tog (3 St left on needle)Turn work slip 1st stitch, k tog, pass slip stitch over the two you just knit together. Voila, you’re back to one stitch! I am also knitting the stitch before and after the bobble through the back loop, and on the next row, p tbl stitch before the bobble, bobble stitch and stitch after the bobble. This twist seems to tighten up the bobble better.
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! THIS BLANKET!
