I like the idea of the KAL knit along, with the deeper soul searching aspect.
Not 100% sure yet, but thinking about it.
3.21. Start of Process/ Project
So many thoughts go through my head and I am keeping a journal day to day while knitting. I have not decided yet wether or not I will publish them…
Perhaps I will write all technical notes here and share the more spiritual insights in the Facebook group.
I give a little tug tothe knit stitch which is followed by a Purl to neaten, tighten it up as learned from Suzanne Bryan for ribbing: suzanne Bryan‘s method to tighten knit before Purl.
It is coming along beautifully, both the knitting as well as the meditative insights.
I just had to join my second ball of yarn and used the Russian joint which gives a beautiful, smooth transition from one ball to the next.
Used the German Twisted Cast on for the sleeves.
I watched this YouTube video by Patty Lyon to review :
German Twisted Cast On in pattern.
Joined the sleeves and body and put in a lifeline in row 16 just in case it is too tight and I have to rip back. I left the lifeline extra long so it won’t restrict when I try it on in another nine rounds.
May 18
I finished all the way to the bind off, then decided that I could not live with the tight sleeves and ripped back to where the sleeves are joined to the body. I imagine this top to have a similar feel and fit to the Tempting II top I knitted up nine years ago.
Modifications on the second time around:
-I cast on 70 sts for the sleeves and went up one needle size ( to #5). I also added one pattern repeat in the body for a little more length. Fingers crossed that this will make enough of a difference to get a comfortable but not oversized fit
-I joined the sleeves to the body after round 5 ( instead of 7) putting 9 sts on waste yarn for the underarm ( instead of 11)
-I did one additional sleeve decrease.
May 29: Tried it on and it is a much more comfortable fit; especially around the sleeves.
I worked the decrease round following the short rows in k2, (k2tog, k4)…to get to 110 sts.
And finished. Will block tomorrow; maybe it will be dry in time to wear for the final zoom session Tuesday, May 30.
