→ Après seulement deux années d’utilisation des disques de coton réutilisables V2, j’ai choisi d’en crocheter encore des nouveaux. Premièrement, je ne trouve pas que le coton utilisé (Drops Cotton Light, 50% coton 50% polyester) soit adéquat pour cet usage. En effet, il ne tient pas sur la durée au fil des utilisations et des lavages et devient de plus en plus rêche. J’en ai donc profité pour faire correspondre les couleurs à celles de la salle de bain et, notamment, au protège-tour Blomma Square. Mes disques V1 auraient été dans les tons mais ils sont beaucoup trop petits.

→ Sur les conseils donnés par Le Petit Monde de Domi sur son blog, j’ai doublé les disques de coton. Chaque disque possède donc deux faces :
- Face A :
--- Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush col. 101 candle light,
--- Tripler le fil avec une seule pelote,
--- Crocheter dans les deux brins,
--- Rentrer tous les fils.
- Face B :
--- Distrifil Multi 8 col. 310 dégradé de verts,
--- Tripler le fil avec une seule pelote,
--- Crocheter dans le brin arrière uniquement,
--- Ne rentrer que le fil de début, le fil de fin servant à l’assemblage des deux faces.
Cela donne un rendu très propre avec un “arrière” vert et un “devant” écru et permet à chaque face d’avoir une utilisation propre : la face A pour un nettoyage tout doux et la face B pour un démaquillage plus exfoliant.

→ Je me suis inspirée de la fiche PDF de Style Couture pour choisir mes fils. Je n’aurais pas pensé à utiliser du fin coton mercerisé à tripler autrement ! Pourtant, ce choix est très bon puisqu’il combine la douceur et le naturel du coton avec la rapidité de séchage de l’aspect mercerisé !

→ Pour éviter que les disques ne se déforment, j’ai continué à augmenter au rang 4 avec *2ms, 1aug* (48) en crochetant dans les brins adéquats selon la face.

→ Au lieu de faire une chaînette de 3 mailles en début de rang et ainsi éviter d’avoir des trous, j’ai utilisé l’astuce 3 de Felted Button qui consiste à faire 2 mailles serrées l’une au dessus de l’autre.

→ Je n’ai pas fermé complétement le cercle magique pour laisser un petit trou afin de pouvoir enfiler le disque sur la pique du porte-cotons.

→ Pour l’assemblage, j’ai suivi le short de handicraft-m8q : envers contre envers, avec le crochet 3mm et le fil vert toujours attaché à la face B, faire des mailles coulées en piquant de l’extérieur vers l’intérieur, d’abord dans une maille de la face A puis dans la maille en vis-à-vis de la face B.

→ Un disque mesure environ 6,5cm de diamètre.

→ J’ai crocheté un total de 8 cotons doublés (soit 8 disques écrus et 8 disques verts) afin d’en avoir un par jour de la semaine plus un en rab en cas d’oubli lors des lessives ou de long séchage.

→ After using the V2 reusable cotton pads for just two years, I decided to crochet some new ones. First of all, I don’t think the cotton used (Drops Cotton Light, 50% cotton, 50% polyester) is suitable for this purpose. In fact, it doesn’t hold up over time with repeated use and washing and becomes increasingly rough. So I took the opportunity to match the colors to those in the bathroom and, in particular, to the Blomma Square bathroom cabinet cover. My V1 pads would have been in the right color scheme, but they’re much too small.

→ Following the advice given by Le Petit Monde de Domi on her blog, I doubled up the cotton pads. Each pad now has two sides:
- Side A:
--- Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush col. 101 candle light,
--- Triple the yarn using a single skein,
--- Crochet in both loops,
--- Weave in all ends.
- Side B:
--- Distrifil Multi 8 col. 310 shades of green,
--- Triple the yarn using a single skein,
--- Crochet in back loops only,
--- Weave only the starting thread in; the ending thread is used to join the two sides together.
This results in a very clean look, with a green “back” and an ecru “front”, and allows each side to serve a specific purpose: side A for gentle cleansing and side B for more exfoliating makeup removal.

→ I used the PDF sheet from Style Couture as a guide when choosing my threads. I wouldn’t have thought to use triple-stranded fine mercerized cotton otherwise! Yet this is a great choice, as it combines the softness and natural feel of cotton with the quick-drying properties of the mercerized aspect!

→ To prevent the discs from warping, I continued increasing on row 4 with *ch2, 1inc* (48), working into the appropriate loops depending on the side.

→ Instead of chaining 3 stitches at the beginning of the row and to avoid gaps, I used tip #3 from Felted Button, which involves working 2 single crochets one on top of the other.

→ I didn’t close the magic circle completely; I left a small opening so I could slide the disc onto the stick.

→ To assemble, I followed the instructions of handicraft-m8q’s short: with the wrong sides together, using a 3mm crochet hook and the green yarn still attached to side B, work slip stitches by inserting the hook from the outside to the inside, first into a stitch on side A and then into the corresponding stitch on side B.

→ A disc is about 6,5cm (2.6”) in diameter.

→ I crocheted a total of 8 double-layered cotton pads (8 off-white ones and 8 green ones) so I’d have one for each day of the week, plus an extra in case I forget to wash them or they take a long time to dry.
