Hats and dancing are two of my kid’s favorite things. So, what better way to celebrate my children through knitting than to work up a hat using Shaker Rib. Shaker Rib is basically the understated backside of Half-Fisherman’s Rib, but in the round it’s a dream to knit.

Haystack Rock is a landmark off the Northern Oregon coast home to a diverse bird population and exquisite, protected tide pools. Made from lava flows down the Columbia River nearly 17 million years ago, we were left with this incredible basalt formation. A sight to behold and home to a thriving ecosystem.

Picture a rainy evening out in a quiet town lined with coffee shops and restaurants. Lights reflecting off the wet streets and, in the distance, those same lights streak across a winding river.

This design was inspired by my daughter’s little dancing feet. It doesn’t matter what music is playing, even just a jingle on a commercial on the radio, and she is bopping to the beat. The playful colorwork and simple design is sure to make your little one get into the dancing spirit!
