When I was asked to design socks for the Socks on Fire event, this idea sprung to mind immediately. I wanted a lace pattern that looked like flames.

These socks are pretty and delicate and just like the flower, the lace patterns unfurl down the leg and foot.

I was a little late to the Schitt’s Creek party, but one of the things that drew me in was the aesthetic of the 4 main characters particularly the black and white colour palette of Moira Rose’s quirky wardrobe.

After the success of my first sock pattern, Stripe Party Socks, I decided to design another sock to celebrate your favourite self-striping yarns. It works with any width stripes and with its simple two row repeat, it’s an enjoyable rhythmic knit.

This pattern was designed in the final few weeks of the UK’s third lockdown when spring was in the air and the promise of freedom brought the feeling of hope. The gentle lace is pretty, delicate and perfect for the warmer temperatures of spring. While it looks intricate and complicated it is soothingly simple and a pleasure to knit.
