Mittlets are worked from the forearms to the fingertips with a small, ribbed detail at top and bottom edges. A gusset for the thumb begins at the wrist, with the option to continue increases, as needed, for a larger fit. Gusset stitches are held on scrap yarn and picked up later to complete the thumb which also has a ribbed detail.

Inspired by my worn-to-death J.C—w roll neck, this sweater is my favorite on its own in autumn, as a top layer in winter, and as a cozy curl up on the sofa (while knitting, of course). This design incorporates short rows at the neck, shoulders and bottom edge to make it move easily with your body and not ride up in back as so many boxy sweaters...
