Knit this scarf with one skein (50 grams) of your favorite lace weight yarn.

If you downloaded this pattern prior to 15 Mar 2010, you should still have the free version in your Ravelry library. This new version is the same, but the photo and chart have been revised for clarity. Thank you to all of you who have knit this pattern and provided valuable feedback. Your scarves are gorgeous!

If you’re intimidated by lace charts like I was, try this pattern (it has both written and charted instructions).

For beginning lace knitters: you’ll have a K3tog on a few rows of this pattern that will require a pointy needle. If you’re using a bamboo or wood needle, the K3tog might be frustrating. Suggested needles are: Addi Lace needles, Knit Picks Options, or Signature Needle Arts needles with Stiletto tips.

When to bind off: I stopped at Row 12 and knit two or three rows before binding off. The cast-on edge is more scalloped than the bind off edge (on my scarf). Ending on row 6 might give you more of a scallop.

The finished length of my scarf was 73” after washing and blocking and I had a small amount of yarn left over.
