Kym Sturdevant

I’ve been crocheting for over a decade now… at least as an Adult. Because I’ve been told, repeatedly, that my Troop of Junior Girl Scouts (4-6 grade) learned to crochet. I have no reason to disbelieve my Mom, as she’s the one whom taught us, and I remember we were a rather crafty Troop (I still have the Christmas ornaments we made every year for the Mini Christmas Tree Festival/Competition.)

I’ve been knitting, since Autumn of 2004, and I know since my first project was a knit hat from a Lion Brand project kit for a newborn. I barely finished it in time to send with Mom for the birth of my niece, The Monkey. I vaguely remember knitting as a kid, and what I remember is that I could knit and purl, but not cast-on, whereas my sister (whom hasn’t re-learned to knit, yet) could cast-on and only knit.

I became a designer because I wanted a wide headband with the owl cable (my only design so far)… and I thought other people might enjoy the pattern as well. And weirdly? When I was planning out the headband I wrote the directions formally, so when I went to publish it I only had a few changes to make.

We’ll see if I ever publish another pattern, never can tell.
