1:12th scale Insect Cushions
Materials required:
Ladybird (Ladybug) - size 19 (1.00 mm/US size 5/0) knitting needles, 28 yards/25 metres of 1-ply wool in black, 14 yards/12.5 metres of 1-ply wool in red, small amount of white for embroidering features, stuffing material.
Bee - size 19 (1.00 mm/US size 5/0) knitting needles, 28 yards/25 metres of 1-ply wool in black, 14 yards/12.5 metres of 1 ply wool in each of yellow and white, stuffing material.
These cushions were popular in the 1960’s and 1970’s
Finished sizes:
Bee – approx. 2-inches/5 cm long by ¾-inch/2 cm wide
Ladybird – approx. 1½-inches/3 cm long by 1-inch/2.5 cm wide
Gauge – Gauge is not important for this project as cushions can be any size in reality.
These also make lovely miniature toys for children.
