#19 Cropped Cardi
Pattern Description from Knit.1, Fall/Winter 2008:
“Miters are mighty in this snowy cropped cardi, shown in Blue Sky Alpacas’ “Bulky.” Mari Lynn Patrick knits it in two pieces, from center to sleeve edge, then seams it up the back; mitered corners complete the sides. The garter-stitch collar is knit in later.”
Materials:
- 8 (9, 10 11, 12) hanks in #1004 Polar Bear of Bulky by Blue Sky Alpacas, 3½oz/100g hanks, each approx 45yd/41m (alpaca/wool)
- Size 15 (10mm) circular needle, 24”/60cm long or size to get the gauge
- Size J/10 (6mm) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
The Measurements:
- Lower edge 40 (42, 44, 46, 48)”/101.5 (106.5, 111.5, 117, 122)cm
- Bust 34 (36, 38, 40, 42)”/86 (91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5)cm
- Length 20 (21, 22, 23, 24)”/51 (53, 56, 58.5, 61)cm
- Upper arm 14 (15, 15, 16, 17)”/35.5 (38, 38, 40.5, 43)cm
Additional Gauge: 8 sts and 10 rows = 4”/10cm over St st using size 15 (10mm) needle.
Note: Cardigan is constructed in 2 pieces, the left half and the right half. Each piece begins by casting on at the center back/lower/center front edge and ends at the sleeve cuff. The 2 pieces are then seamed up the center back. This garment is close-fitting due to the bulk of the yarn.
Pages: 45 & 75-76.
Pattern includes a diagram.
