Simple, sophisticated, fitted and feminine.

These dressy gloves are based on a 1959 pattern for elbow length, full fingered evening gloves. My version is updated for the modern era, shortening the cuff to mid-sleeve and leaving open fingers for texting. The pattern uses a simple all over background stitch. All thumb increases are worked at the side edge, so there is no need to reverse image the shaping--just make 2 exactly the same.

Directions are given for women’s small, medium and large.

The pattern stitch is very easy, but the gloves are worked in the round on double pointed needles. Therefore, it is recommended for a knitter of intermediate knitting skill.

Pattern is suitable for any fingering weight sock yarn. Sample was knit using approximately 1/2 of one skein of 3 Irish Girls Adorn Luxe.
