Designed to complement Cheryl Niamath’s beautiful and popular Fetching mitts, this soft beret has wide ribs and spiraling cables that echo those of the mitts. A versatile and universally flattering hat, it will carry the wearer from autumn to spring, worn either as a beret or the more modern slouch hat. A simple knit, it’s a good introduction to cables and working in the round. The hat’s distinctive shape is created when it is blocked, not as it is knit, meaning much of it is worked even, without shaping. By working one extra cable round, a larger, slouchier hat can be made.
