This scarf is designed to look like the diagonnal garter stitch scarf worn by Anthony (Jamie Campbell Bower) in the movie “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”. I personally love the look of garter stitch, and think this is a great simple scarf with or without the movie tie in. It is a very easy pattern, suitable for a beginner who’s ready to move beyond straight knitting and add in some increases and decreases (you’ll get lots of practice with k2tog and ssk, the most common). The finished scarf is quite sophisticated looking, and suitable for either a man or a woman, depending on your chosen colorway. I knit my version in a heathered charcoal gray like the one shown in the movie, but any solid, semi-solid or a variegated yarn such as Noro would work beautifully.
