Aarnivalkea (Fin for Will-o’-the-wisp)**
is an atmospheric ghost light seen by travelers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes.
It is a flickering flame that is said to jump, wobble or sway, or even over from place to place. It is often said that bursts of fire disappear or recede further as they approach.
In Finland, it was believed that there could be a treasure under the light, precious metals that were polished or cleaned with flame by the holder of the treasure. The treasure was guarded by an elf called Aarni (valkea means flame, fire or light). The flames were burning especially on Midsummer nights. Then they announced the
location of the treasure.*

Now with added abbreviations in the pattern, improved inc 1 to 3 and inc 1 to 5.

Pattern Notes
This shawl is worked from the top center
outwards. It consists of 8 panels and an
i-cord edging to prevent rolling.
For a half circle shawl, knit only 4 panels.
Use a semi-solid or ombre yarn for a more
lively shawl.

Pattern is Tech Edited and it contains some special stitches and tutorials for them and you can contact the designer if you have any additional questions or need help with something.
