You’ll begin your crochet doll using Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream and start with the legs. They are crocheted separately and rather than sewing them on to the body are incorporated into the body. This is one less component we have to sew and helps her to stand!

After you’ve crocheted the body, you’ll move on to the arms and head. These components are later sewed into position.

The face should be added before you make the decreases of the head so you can get your fingers inside to stitch the nose and add the safety eye backs. You can also add the mouth at this stage, however, I added this at the end of the project.

For the hair, you’ll crochet a hair cap using Patons Alpaca Blend This element works much like a wig. It gives us a foundation to add the strands of hair and covers up the body yarn color so it looks fuller than what it actually is. I recommend making the hair thicker in the front and on top but keeping it thinner underneath.

The tutorial is broken down into two videos. In video #1 we’ll crochet the legs and body and in video #2 we’ll crochet the arms, head and add the little details.
