CustomFit ( is a website that creates sweater patterns based on your own exact gauge, and sized for your own fabulous self.

Right now, CustomFit cannot automatically incorporate the difference in gauge that cable panels represent. The Acorn Trail “CustomFit recipe” helps you use CustomFit to make a sweater like Acorn Trail. You’ll need both the recipe and a CustomFit pattern to make a sweater. Find out more about recipes here:

I don’t recommend following a recipe for your first CustomFit sweater. (You can see a list of designs that are built directly into CustomFit and don’t require a recipe, here. Acorn Trail is also available as a traditionally-written pattern in multiple sizes here in Ravelry.)

To use CustomFit to create a custom Acorn Trail, you need to follow two basic steps:

  1. Before CustomFit Pattern Purchase:

Use the choices outlined in this recipe as your selections in CustomFit’s “Custom Sweater Wizard”, located here:

  1. While you’re knitting:

Once you’ve purchased your CustomFit pattern, you’ll need to use this recipe and that pattern at the same time while knitting. This recipe will give you instructions for adding the cable panels to the front and sleeves.
