Amy Herzog

I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know how to knit. But for many years, it was a hobby only.

Recently, I’ve left my former field and pursue the fiber arts full time. My mission is to help all knitters create garments that they can’t wait to wear, and that fit better than anything else in their closet. It feels wonderful to wear clothing that was made just for you - and I want everyone to be able to have that feeling.

I design, for myself and others; I’m the author of Knit to Flatter by STC craft (2013) and my next book will be on the shelves in 2015; I teach around the US. I’ve also written CustomFit, an online custom sweater pattern generator. It takes your gauge, and your body measurements, and creates a well-fitting sweater pattern to your exact specifications.

A note on my designs and CustomFit:

Since I design both for my own pattern line and others, some of my designs are available as traditional patterns only, some of my designs are only available via CustomFit, and some are both. Here’s a breakdown of what that means:

  • Traditional patterns are written in 10 - 12 sizes and are just like any other patterns you may have knit. You can use them as-is.
  • CustomFit patterns will give you a sweater that looks like the pattern photo, but all of the pattern numbers have been created exclusively to match your gauge, your body measurements, and your length/sleeve preferences.

For those knitters who want to create one of my designs that isn’t built into CustomFit using CustomFit, I’ve written short instructions for doing so called “recipes”. You can find out more about recipes, and purchase one if you like, by clicking here.

For more information on my designs, please visit my blog, CustomFit, or my Ravelry groups.

I hope you like my work, but I’d love to hear from you either way. Please feel free to write with questions or comments at hello@makewearlove.com. Unfortunately, Ravelry pm’ing is not a reliable way to get in touch with me.

Thanks for your interest!
