Bundle Alert! When you bundle Alcott with Weld x Spark on the Hudson + West Co. site, you’ll get a discount off the pattern.

How could we resist making a cozy shawl with our shining new Spark? Alcott, by Sloane Rosenthal, is a friendly top down triangular shawl, featuring Sloane’s signature cables that flow seamlessly into a 2x2 ribbed border. Made at a lofty gauge, our tonal Spark gently shifts over the Weld base, creating just enough visual interest in the fabric without taking away from the pattern. This beautiful shawl is just the right size to wear as a spring scarf with a denim jacket or over bare shoulders.

Finished Sizes:
One Size; 60” / 152.5 cm wingspan, 19” / 48.5 cm depth

Yarn
Hudson + West Co. Weld (70% U.S. Merino / 30% U.S. Corriedale; 200 yds / 183 m; 1.76 oz / 50 g): dusk (pale pink), 3 skeins.

Hudson + West Co. Spark (72% kid mohair; 28% silk; 459 yds / 420 m; 1.76 oz / 50g): sunrise (pale pink), 1 skein.

Yarns are held double. Gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect finished size. Care was taken to make the project fit into one skein of Spark, but if your gauge is wildly different from the stated gauge, your shawl may differ in size or you may run out of yarn.

Needles
Size A (for shawl): US 7 / 4.5 mm: 32” / 80 cm or longer circular needle. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions
Locking stitch markers; cable needle (optional); tapestry needle.

Gauge
19 sts and 24 rows = 4” / 10 cm in St st on Size A needle, after blocking, with both yarns held together.

Skills Required
Increasing; cabling with or without a cable needle.
