The All Seasons Cardy is a marvellous layering piece; team it with a strappy singlet and flowy skirt in summer, and over a long sleeved tee with jeans in the cooler seasons.
This simple short-sleeved cardigan with wee puff sleeves will appeal to the little girl in the house, while the top-down seamless construction, coupled with very basic body lace make it an enjoyable knit for mum.

All Seasons Cardy is a PEKAPEKA MULTI pattern; a pattern written for multiple sizes (15 of them, from newborn up to 10y), and also multiple yarn weights (4ply/fingering, 8ply/dk, and 10ply/worsted).

Construction
This pattern has you cast on at the neckline, and work flat utilising standard raglan increases until you reach the required chest size. From here the arm stitches are put on to waste yarn (or a stitch holder), and the body completed in simple eyelet lace. Once the body is completed, the sleeve stitches are returned to the needles and worked in the round. The button bands are picked up afterwards and knit flat in garter stitch.
The sleeves have a cute wee puff to them.

Skills Required
backwards loop cast on (for under the arms)
knitting basic lace
knitting small circumferences in the round
picking up stitches
If you are not familiar with these techniques you may need to reference a knitting guide book, or view videos on the internet.

This versatile pattern for wear all year round, is the comprehensive version of the free Autumn Cardigan pattern.

All Seasons Cardy has undergone a revamp as of October 2014 - the pattern was formerly only available in dk and worsted weight yarns, in sizes 1-6 years.
The all new version is in fingering, dk, and worsted, and sizes newborn to 10 years!
In addition - the original version utilised lace that caused the left front to pull open. The updated version contains both this original simple lace, plus a new version which features directional lace to eliminate this pulling.
