Botanical dreams, knit into beauty to wrap around yourself, or someone you love …. with hopes and dreams.

This crescent shaped shawl is knit from the neck edge down to the scalloped lace border. It features sinuously textured botanical motifs worked with lace and cable stitches. Lace stitches are worked on wrong side and right side rows, and you will have to read a chart to complete this pattern.

Stitches include: yo, k2tog, p2tog, ssk, ssp, sk2p, 5 from 1 gathered stitch, 2/1, 2/2, 2/3 RC and LC

Needles: Use a needle size to suit your chosen yarn to either achieve gauge or a fabric density you like. I’m a loose knitter and I used 3.75 mm needles and a 4 mm cable needle for the cables.

Yarn: 950-1000 metres of any lace weight yarn, If you choose a heavier weight yarn you will require more yarn.

Yardage: An important note on yardage - this pattern features a 5 from 1 stitch to create the leaf motif, which vastly increases the stitch count for those rows. Because this motif features strongly towards the bottom edge of the shawl, you will use A LOT of yarn in those parts of the shawl. This means you will require more yarn than you would usually use for a crescent shawl of this type. In addition, because the last set of leaf motifs are worked right to the edge of the shawl, this pattern is not amenable to being shortened should you run low on yarn, so I strongly advise that you begin with at least 950 metres of yarn. I personally had 1050 metres of yarn to begin this shawl.
