2nd JAN 2015 UPDATE

I’m based in the UK, and have to work out how to deal with the recent changes to VAT (Value Added Tax) that now affect digital downloads. Until I know that I’m complying with the law, I’m disabling this pattern and all others that I was offering for sale. My free patterns are unaffected and will remain active.

Summary: This collection of 35 charts gives the digits 1-9, plus the capital letters A-Z, each inside a square bordered with stocking stitch.

Gauge information: Using a DK yarn and needles to achieve the recommended gauge, each square will measure 6.5” (16cm) including the borders, or 5” (12.5cm) excluding the borders. The patterns show up best when the stitches are reasonably tight, so if in doubt, go down a needle size.

Yardage information: The yardage given is an estimate of the yarn required per square.

Additional information: These charts were developed for use within blanket patterns, where clear internal stocking stitch borders were required. Used singly - for dishcloths, for instance - the stocking stitch border may curl at the edges. To avoid this, the border could be knitted in moss stitch.

As only two stitches (knit and purl - used to create areas of stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch) have been used in this pattern, these charts could be easily adapted for use as double knitting or intarsia charts.
