I loved the idea of creating letters in crochet – brilliant for all sorts of personalised gifts!
This pattern PDF includes the whole alphabet, from A to Z.
Pattern is given in UK crochet terms and US crochet terms.
Each square is made using double crochet (US single crochet) stitches, following a simple colour chart.
You will need any 4ply yarn and a 3mm (US C-2 or D-3) hook.
I used West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply (75% wool, 25% nylon, 100g/400m), 1 ball each of Yarn A Poppy Grey (600), Yarn B Sour Apple (390).
Each finished square measures 13.5cm square.
You could use these monogram squares as coasters, or to create pockets on a garment for him or her. Or make the whole alphabet and join the squares into a fun blanket.
Alternatively, make the letters in a superchunky yarn for a big square that would make a nice mat or lap blanket.
