Years ago a sample of an ancient knitted fabric was found along the bank of the Euphrates River. It’s believed the sample was made sometime between the 2nd century BC and 3rd century AD and is one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, samples of knitting to survive.

The pattern may look complicated, but it’s really an easy knit for the confident beginner. If you decide to tackle the project, you will be participating in about 2000 years of knitting history and will have a lot of fun working the various twisted knit and purl stitches.

The central panel is the star of the show, with Seed Stitch borders and edges.

I’ve designed this scarf in a Super Bulky yarn with large needles and it should be a fairly quick and easy knit for you.

As with all my designs, if you have any questions as you work through the project, just contact me at my Email address given on the pattern. I’m always available to assist you. I want you to have fun and end up with a spectacular result!
