Another way to Zig Zag (AWZZ) Afghan creates the familiar chevron shape a bit differently. Instead of increases and decreases across a row resulting in points at the top and bottom, AWZZ works from an I cord cast on and creates points on the edge from alternating left leaning and right leaning diagonal mesh. Finishing on the edges is created by loose I cord at each side and finally, an I cord bind off.

You can create any size you desire from the “plug your own numbers in” instructions. Simply use an even number of stitches and follow the instructions for each row, plugging in the numbers for your afghan. You can make the flat cast on edge either the short side or long side, depending on how you’d like your finished afghan to look. The written instructions will give a 48” (cast on and bind off edge) by 60” (points edge), the model made in Red Heart With Love “Evergreen” colorway.
