The apple design is made separately and then stitched to the body of the bag. If you would like to make the apple applique but not the bag, there's there used to be a free pattern available just for the Beaded Crochet Apple Applique. But apparently, the editors at the publishing website decided not to maintain this pattern in their archives. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
