Arctic Air is the second of the three Arctic Aura haps that I designed in 2015. It is the loftiest and the softest of all the pieces, and its colours are meant to bring wind of Arctic Aura to your everyday life and make you feel refreshed every time you wrap yourself with this hap.

Use two-ply hand-spun Estonian wool, parameters: 285 m/ 100 g (310 yd./ 3.53 oz.)

There are two more haps in the Arctic Aura hap family:
Arctic Water and
Arctic Land.

amount of materials needed
approx. 500 m/ 550 yd. of blue
approx. 600 m/ 650 yd. of white

sample info
The pattern sample is made of two-ply hand-spun Estonian wool in two colours: off-white and bright blue.

3 mm/ US 2.5/ UK 11
8 mm/ US 11/ UK 0
Note: the border is way less stretchy than the centre, hence it requires significantly larger needles than those you use for the central part. If you are a tight knitter, it might be necessary to use needles even one size up.

I suggest using interchangeable circular needles. As an alternative you may use one pair in each size with at least 100 cm/ 40 inches cord and yet another pair in larger size with 40 cm/ 16 inches cord.

scissors, tapestry needle, 20 regular + 8 removable stitch markers (for example my MAKs)

dimensions/ sizing
sample: 175 x 175 cm/ 69 x 69 inches;
any size is possible to be made based on this pattern

Arctic Air is built from inside to the outside. Its centre square is knitted diagonally back and forth in stocking stitch, and incorporates Cat’s Paw lace motifs. Based on the square is the Feather and Fan airy border made in the round and finished with a spiky edging formed perpendicular to the border. This hap requires blocking.

instructions type
The pattern includes written and charted instructions, photographs, tips and links to video tutorials. There are directions on size adjustments provided as well.
