This attractive beret is knitted using double knitting yarn and features a pretty leaf-shaped lace motif, with 12 leaves falling from the crown to the brim.

One size only; fits a 21” (53 cm) head

Yarn requirements:

Blacker Yarns Gotland DK (100% pure Gotland wool, 50 g = 110 m / 119 yds), 2 balls

Yarn is held doubled throughout - DK yarn held double could also be substituted for 110 m / 119 yds of chunky yarn.

20 sts x 24 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stocking stitch and holding yarn doubled

3.75 mm / US size 5 - straight knitting needles
5.00 mm / US size 8 - straight knitting needles

Always remember to use needles which result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Large darning needle for sewing up the seam

Skill Level:
Advanced beginner - this pattern is a great starting project for those looking to begin their adventure with lace

Pattern instructions are written for one size but, like all knitwear, the hat is reasonably stretchy. So if you would like to alter the size a little, simply alter the size of knitting needles used. If you would like to customise the size by more than this, then add or remove multiples of 8 stitches to accommodate the design.
