This design is inspired by my favorite season and my favorite tree! Oak leaves are a beautiful part of nature, with a rich history and many cultural associations. This pattern uses three different colors to create a fun and simple leaf motif, and is good for introductory colorwork socks. The heel is knit up in the basket stitch, a fun and cozy alternative for a reinforced heel. A great stash bust project for using up scraps and left over yarns from other projects to create your very own hand knit socks.

Knit with US 2 (2.75mm) needles and using fingering weight yarn. Approximately 50g-100g or 200-400 meters/219-438 yards of the main color, and approximately 20g/80 meters/87 yards of yarn for the two contrast colors.

Any of your favorite sock yarns should be perfect substitutes!

Colorwork patterns also make for great stash busting projects, to use up those odds and ends. High contrast colors and semi solid to solid colors will yield the best results.

Sizing is considered unisex. The socks are knit top down, and each approximate leg opening per sizes is small : 7.5″, medium : 8″, large : 8.5″, and xlarge 9″, all measurements laying flat and have negative ease designed to stretch and fit your calf.

The length of you socks can be easily modified, just keep in mind your yarn need may vary if you make it longer than suggested in the pattern.
