Introducing my Avocado knitting pattern. The avocado is also known as an alligator pear. Botanically it is a large berry with a single seed, but is usually treated as a vegetable because of its savoury flavour. My avocado has two halves; one half has a hollow and the other a stone so you can fit them together.

My knitted Vegetable Box are super toys to encourage little ones to eat veg and greens, or you can use them as decorative items in your home. My veggies are worked flat, but most pieces could easily be converted to knitting in the round if that is your preference.

PATTERN INFO:

  • The avocado is 8.5 cm tall x 6 cm wide.
  • The pattern is 5 pages and written in English.
  • Photos of some of the steps are included to help you.
  • You will also need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew seams.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

  • A pair of straight 2.75 mm (US 2) single-pointed knitting needles
  • Double knitting yarns (DK or light worsted weight)
  • Toy safety eyes
  • A few handfuls of toy filling
