Azami, Japanese for thistle, is a semi circular shawl comprised of various thistle motifs. The edge is slightly ruffled with open blossoms and petals, giving the shawl a lovely drape and great movement.

Please note this pattern is charted only it will not be adjustable. However it is a very generous size. Gauge is somewhat dependent on your yarn choice, needle size and desired fabric. However I do recommend that a larger needle is used so the lace can open up nicely when blocked.

This shawl looks complicated but fairly simple to knit. You will need to be familiar to certain lace stitches, like k5tog and knitting 5 into 1. The edge is finished with a crochet bind off.

Some testers have completed the knit with fingering weight yarn however you will need at least 1100 yards.

Please note this shawl will require a longer circular needle, the rows get rather long near the end and you will need at least a 32” needle to accommodate all the stitches. You will also need a crochet hook for the bind off.

Thank you testers!!
