This is a simple pattern to make a cube for baby to play with. With this free pattern as a template, you can get creative with Swiss darning to decorate your cube if you wish.

THE PATTERN INCLUDES: Row numbers for each step so you don’t lose your place, instructions for making the cube, a list of abbreviations, a materials list and recommended yarns. The pattern is 2 pages and written in English.

TECHNIQUES: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. You will need to cast on and off, knit, purl and sew seams.

  • A pair of 4mm straight knitting needles (US 6)
  • DK yarns (double knitting or light worsted weight); less than 25g in each colour
  • Toy filling
