The badger, or ‘grey’ as it was commonly known, because you only see them at night and because that’s the only colour you see at night, according to folklore, protects you against all witchcraft. It also used to be said that badgers had legs that were shorter on one side than the other, because they are often seen walking on sloping ground on the sides of hills. More to colourful ‘old grey’ than meets the eye, night or day!
