Comfortable and cozy—this cardigan has drop-shoulders, a shawl collar, and hi-lo side vent openings. Easy stitch details make this fun to knit, and flattering silhouette and classic style make this fun to wear.

Worked flat in seeded rib, which looks a bit like brioche, but I think a little easier. The yarn is sport-weight, but with this stitch it gives a bulky sweater look without the bulk, making it a bit more versatile.

Plain 1x1 ribbing is placed under the arms with over-lapping hi-lo side-slits for front and back, with the back extending about 1” below the front length.

Begin by working fronts and back separately, then join at the side-ribbing and continue to work flat in one piece to the armholes. Then separate the fronts and backs.

Shawl-collar is worked directly onto the fronts with curved shaping using short rows and joined with a three-needle bind-off at the center-back. Shoulder seams are also joined with a three-needle bind-off. Since the Seeded Rib is reversible, the front neck-opening is simply turned back to form the front part of the shawl-collar.

Sleeves are knit flat, directly into armholes, so that the sleeve seams and back neck edge are the only seams required for finishing.

I-cord is worked directly along the front and collar edges to neatly finish the sweater.
