This little snake is knit in the round from the tail up. It starts with a Turkish cast on like a toe-up sock. Both colors of yarn are carried up the inside of the knitting so there are no tails to weave in. The filling is a roll of white fleece with a monofilament nylon cord inside to let the snake make his body arch in his defensive posture.

This pattern PDF is written out line by line in a spreadsheet with the rows shaded for the black and white bands. The white bands are numbered so you can count to find out where you are if you aren’t really using the checklist.

There are some short rows in the head and the colors have to be crossed to make the top of the head black and the chin white. It takes a decent amount of dexterity to make this. A determined beginner could do it but they will need to spend some time on YouTube learning the techniques.
