Skill level: Beginner, up to any level you like.

So simple to knit; yet it doesn’t look plain.

This is a good way to use up small to medium amounts of leftover yarn of the same weight. It is also great for gradients. It is a recipe rather than a pattern. It tells you how to knit the sections, but the size and color of the sections, as well as the number of sections, is up to you. Even the border is optional. You can easily add lace or textured sections to jazz up the basic shawl.

Yarn: Designed for any weight yarn, but lace fingering, or sport weight is best. I used remnants in fingering weight, -- about 650 yds total. Although I recommend the lighter weights, you can actually use any weight yarn with the appropriate needles.

Needles: circular needle, at least 24” (60 mm) long – US size 4 or 5 (3.5 or 3.75 mm) for fingering weight; US size 2 or 3 (2.5 or 3.35 mm) for lace weight. If you use the i-cord cast-on, you will need 2 DPNs in the same size for the cast-on. You may need a longer circular needle for the border
