Constructed from the toe up, these very basic socks feature a solid sole for comfort, and a gusset to make them fit properly at the arch. They fit any adult women’s foot length.

The plain stockinette may be used as a blank canvas for colourwork or a fun stitch pattern.

Increases are made by Kfb (knit front and back) because newer knitters often find this the simplest increase. However, the pattern will work with any increase you prefer.

Stitches you need to know:
knit, purl, knit 2 together, slip-slip-knit, wrap & turn, knit front and back, slipped sts, and any closed CO such as Turkish CO (optional). Magic Loop would be helpful, but is not essential.

Materials:

  • fingering weight yarn, about 300-400 yards
  • size 1 (2.25mm) circular needles or DPNs
  • 2 stitch markers (one for end-of-round)
