Simple brioche increases and decreases give this leafy cowl its shape and beautifully squishy texture. Begin with a provisional CO, then use a 3-needle BO to seam, joining into a cowl.

If you’ve never tried brioche knitting before, or if you’re familiar with only basic brioche ribbing, this pattern will give you a great introduction to more advanced brioche, made simple!

Finished dimensions:
4” (10cm) wide at widest points x 41” (104cm) around (7 pattern repeats)

Stitches Used:
K (knit), P (purl), and provisional CO. Photo tutorial included for the brioche stitches.

Materials:
If you can find a skein of Diamond Luxury Collection Lima, I highly recommend it for this pattern!

  • Aran or light Bulky weight yarn, about 105 yards (allow about 18 yards per pattern repeat)
  • size US 10 (6.00mm) needles
  • scrap yarn for provisional CO & lifelines
  • 2 stitch markers

Correction to the written instructions for the chart. Line 6 says “x 3” but should say “x 2.” It is now corrected in version 3.
