My last (and favorite) pattern in the “Buckland Boomerangs” ebook - Belladonna’s Lace - contains directions for 3 different shaped wraps: Shawl, Shallow Shawl, and Scarf. Come to “MAD Cap Fans” group for the Crochet-A-Long August 2015!

And now, for the final chapter in the sad tale of Primula and Drogo Baggins:

“Ah – I have it!” Primula exclaimed. “I’ll wear Aunt Belladonna’s Lace shawl! It’s just the thing!” She held an asymmetrical confection of shells and picots before the candle light. Dripping with lace, the shawl cast a web of dancing shadows upon the wall.

“Primula, do you think it wise?” Drogo asked with trepidation, looking askance at the frolicking picot shadows. “The thing is full of holes! Not exactly ‘sea-worthy’, wouldn’t you agree?”

“Nonsense!” Primula scoffed. “It’s lace crochet - it’s supposed to have holes - and I’m not intending to use it as a flotation device, after all!”

“But the pattern is from Aunt Belladonna, and … Tookish…” Drogo added nervously.

“So?” Primula demanded. “It’s a lovely lace pattern, and Aunt Belladonna was known throughout the Shire for her skill at doily making!”

“Bilbo’s mother was known throughout the Shire as a CRACKPOT,” Drogo muttered to himself.

“WHAT DID YOU SAY?”

“I said, ‘she was known throughout the Shire as a CRACK SHOT’!” Drogo improvised.

“Really? I never heard she had taken up archery… but it wouldn’t surprise me one little bit! Aunt Belladonna was a dab hand at whatever she set her mind to - an expert!”

“I still say the shawl looks unsafe to me - sketchy - not at all the thing… And I’ve heard tales of a strange creature lurking around the river at night,” Drogo warned.

“Oh Drogo - don’t tell me you’ve been listening to Lobelia Sackville-Bagginses’ gossip again! Stop fussing and let’s go before we miss moonrise on the river…”

~ The Tragic Accident ~

”Watch your step, you’re tipping the boat, Drogo - I do believe you’ve put on weight!”

“Gollum…”

“What’s that, Primula? Did you make that strange gollumping noise?”

“No, I thought that was you! OH! WHAT’S MY SHAWL CAUGHT ON?”

SPLASH!

The End.
