This design was inspired by the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett, in which a beautiful young woman at a certain point wears a ‘cream-lace shawl’. That, of course, had me wondering - and this is what I came up with.

The shawl is worked top down from a garter tab, with multiple increases on the RS rows. The stitch pattern is a combination of yarn overs and decreases, set inside geometric shapes. It may look complicated, but it really is quite simple to knit.
