This Gansey inspired cardigan is knitted bottom up on circular needles, back and fronts together. The garment is then split at the underarms and the back and fronts knitted separately to the shoulders. The shoulders are shaped with German short rows and joined together with a 3 needle cast off on the right side which gives a visible seam.
The stitches for the sleeves are picked up from the armhole and the sleeve is knitted down to the wrists.
