Sometimes you’re outside, enjoying a beverage and suddenly you’re distracted by some task, some neighborly chat or some sidewalk-chalk play. You leave your beverage behind… and chances are you’ll come back to it in a half hour and find a fly has done a kamikaze to his or her doom and to your disgust! It’s time to protect your beverage and the flies…

Made from sport-weight thread (#3), this beverage keeper is worked from the top down without turning. The top of the keeper is worked in a continuous spiral to fit the top of the beverage bottle after 3 rounds (I would recommend a D hook as a start). The body is then worked in a rows until the desired height is achieved (with a suggestion of row-count).

Lastly, 6 small chain loops with beads are added (for fun or to help weigh it down, you decide – in my case, it fits well and doesn’t really need the weight; but hey! Bling!). I threaded my beads on the string before crocheting an slipped them down the thread after I worked to the center on the set of chains, but you may choose to add a center chain with the bead slipped on.
