Birchleaf is a texture-and-lace infinity cowl. It’s knit flat from a provisional cast-on; after blocking, the two ends are joined with a three-needle bind-off.

Blocked dimensions: 10 inches/25.5 cm wide by 50 inches/127 cm circumference

Needles: US5/3.75mm and US4/3.50mm

Yarn: 410-425 yards of fingering or light fingering weight yarn. The sample and a swatch required nearly all of the 425-yard skein. If you work a large gauge swatch, if your gauge differs from the pattern gauge, or if you’re substituting yarn that comes in a put-up of less than 425 yards, you may wish to purchase an extra skein.

Difficulty: advanced beginner

Techniques: knit, purl, yarnovers, increases and decreases; provisional cast-on, three-needle bind-off. Pattern provides links to helpful tutorials.

Stitch patterns are provided in both written form and a chart.
