Bloom Lace Flower by Claire from Crochet Leaf

Bloom Lace Flower

This pattern is available for free.

This flower has a wonderful raised middle, created by crocheting sc (UK dc) into a ring then working a second round of stitches over that first round - then another round of dc (UK tr) over that!

It’s a bit tricky at first, as you need to control your stitches so that they sit nicely next to each other - so it’s a little more advanced than my other flowers in that respect.

I give you a basic run through of the pattern, as you can start with any length of chain you like - I use rings of 7 or 8 chain. Then you can crochet as many stitches as necessary around for each round - the only requirement is that they look neat ;)

There’s also a full step by step photo tutorial for those of you interested in the finer details, and I do give you my stitch counts for the flowers pictured here if you want to follow an exact pattern.

The pattern uses both US and UK terminology for the stitches.

The cherry-red flower is made from Coats Puppets size 10 thread, with a 1.75 mm hook. It measures one and a half inches/4 cm across.

The violet/gray flower uses Debbie Bliss Eco Baby sport-weight yarn, and a 3 mm hook. Measurement across is two and a quarter inches or 5.5 cm.
