The Blue Rivers Hat is a reference to the sparkling blue rivers that run down the sides of mountains. Seven columns of raised post stitches begin at the crown and flow to the base of the hat. With unisex styling available in four sizes, you can make one for everyone on your gift list.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

GAUGE: Gauge is very important for proper sizing of the hat. Please take the time to check for proper gauge and adjust yarn or hook size as necessary. 16 sc and 20 rows = 4” brim gauge

The stitch pattern behaves a little different from straight sc. Row measurements are given at rows 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.

SIZING: Sizes are approximate. Measure largest part of head horizontally along the forehead and above the ears. Hats will stretch to fit the following sizes:

Small: Sized to fit 18-19½” head circumference (average child) (17½” circumference, 8” in length)

Medium: Sized to fit 19½-21¼ head circumference (small teen/adult) (19¼ circumference, 8½” in length)

Large: Sized to fit 21¼ – 23” head circumference (large teen/adult) (21” circumference, 9” in length)

Extra Large: Sized to fit 23-24¾” head circumference (extra-large teen/adult) (22¾ circumference, 9½” in length)

¼-2” negative ease recommended

Yarn: Lion Brand, Heartland 100% acrylic
5oz/142g, 251yd/200m per skein, or equivalent (medium-4), worsted/heavy worsted weight yarn, #109 Olympic
Please note, yarn amounts are approximate. Allow for at least a 10% variance when purchasing yarn.
